What if the repeater owner said no Blacks allowed? Would it be "his repeater, his rules?" He may own the repeater, but he doesn't own the airwawes. Those are a public good controlled by the federal government.

Never understood why everyone that makes CB handheld radios had such a big aversion to making a USB charging option for them, or why some CB handhelds STILL use AA batteries. Hopefully ALL handheld radios, from CB to amateur, will have a USB charge option before 2030. Recently got a USB battery for both my Ailunce HD1 and Anytone 878 plus. Ultimate goal is to have only USB charged radios in the small "radio bag" I take whenever I leave home, though the Cobra HH350 marine HT might not get that for a while.

CB radio is far from dead. In fact there are new models of radios being released on a regular basis. I just talked to a guy in Kentucky yesterday on CH 40 lower side band in my Jeep ,like he was right in town. That’s about 1000 miles away from me

I wish the President handheld units had CTCSS and DCS capabilities. I bought the Wouxun CB HT for this feature, but I really like the President radios. I just have no use for them if they don’t have CTCSS and DCS.

I have the Randy II, been a great HT! It’s been everywhere, and works great! I also got a telescopic antenna for it, and really improved the range.

Well I bought the Randy 2, about $120 and a remote mike, great car portable but an expensive investment and worth it!

Fortunately my HOA is okay with antennas. As far as they are concerned if things go south, we need radio communication. I'm also part of the HOA association and I've made a point about how important it is to be able to communicate if all other options are exhausted.

Honestly If you own the repeater, you have the right to decide what goes.

Just started looking for handheld CB radios... currently using Kenwood NX series radios for GMRS and MURS, but would like a handheld for the Jeep in case others are still using CB.

I agree with you all, you can't really compare the two-radio services. Unlike GMRS, Amateur Radio is both a Hobby and a Service. GMRS on the other hand is more of a service then a hobby. Unlike Amateur Radio, GMRS has more le way when it comes to type of communications.

Well, lets look at the company's points of view. Cobra lobbied very hard to get the government to allow FM on 11 meter band. Thist is because CB sales were in the tank. Now that FM is an option, the company's that make radios hope you're outdated AM only radio will be replaced with a new FM capable radio.

We rely on our cell phones too much. The tower or service goes down you have nothing. CB is always reliable and works. For GMRS yeah you need a license but I don’t see people using it on the road. I see it more for the destination ski resort, theme parks etc.

I believe it depends on where you are. I live in the northeast and it goes in waves. I believe in the Midwest CB is huge.

CB Radio's are not dead. In my area I hear a lot of AM and SSB signals on my President McKinley II AM/FM SSB Radio. In my area at this time, I do not hear a lot of FM signals. That may change in the future.

Hi here in good old ENGLAND we used to have AM back in the dark days, then the government brought out FM , just so we had to spend more money for them. But like you say you have the FM now and we are all in the same boat, and I love that. And I've got back into CB and love it still. Have great days sometimes on the ssb when the skip comes rolling in and wow it's amazing how far we can get out. Not only on ssb even on FM OR AM when that SKIP is there it's a great day to say that I've just got out to wherever but on 4 watts and that just makes me feel great, so thanks for your show love it. We use the Wouxon Radios for our Community Radio System. We also use others for backups but mostly run Wouxon

would not buy a CB without side band. other than that. the only people in my area are on channel 20. maybe 8 to 10. I live 3 miles from the expressway and hear no truckers. sometimes I hear Spanish speaking people on channel 9. other than skip when it rolls in.

Here's another sign CB isn't dead. The FCC would be reclaiming the frequencies if it was.

To tune a duplexer you got to sing to it first, it will resonate in harmony with your tuning rods.
